Chapter 27: Field Test After the Reboot — The First External Interview

Rehabilitation, test boring, and dialogue with AI. The work of solidifying my foundation finally reached the “field test” stage: direct negotiation with the outside world.

It wasn’t my old workplace, but an online interview with a new client. It was my first attempt to re-engage the gears of the massive machinery called society, while still carrying the “gap” in my life known as adjustment disorder.

The Terror of Evaluation: The “Hole” in the Resume

The person on the other side of the screen didn’t know my past. However, the gap of several months lay starkly on my resume. “What were you doing during this period?”

That standard question used to sound like a death sentence to the old me. “I was broken.” “I couldn’t move.” I was convinced that telling the truth would mean I could never return to the site (work). The thought caused a burning pain in my stomach.

Creating a Strategic “Report” with AI

Before the interview, I conducted a thorough simulation (strategy meeting) with the AI.

“Redefine my gap period not as mere ‘sick leave,’ but as an ‘OS Update Period’ to acquire next-generation skills. Logically structure how my experience with adjustment disorder can be utilized in my current work.”

The AI rewrote my “hole” into a powerful building material:

“You weren’t ‘doing nothing.’ Define it as ‘Researching extreme efficiency and mental management through the symbiosis of humans and AI.’ Because you broke once, you acquired safety management techniques to ensure you never break again. That is a ‘Risk Management Capability’ that any organization would die for.”

Completion Inspection via the Screen

The interview began. I didn’t try to “act competent” or stretch myself thin to look bigger than I was. I calmly but clearly communicated what I could do—and what I couldn’t do (my safety standards)—based on the words I had formulated with the AI.

I kept telling myself: the client isn’t looking for the old me (the overloaded heavy machine), but the current me (a system that masters AI to produce steady results). After the interview, I closed the screen and exhaled deeply. Regardless of the outcome, I had communicated my “current location” without lying. It was the ultimate Completion Inspection, announcing that the reboot of my system was successful.

The Xer’s Monologue

Don’t look at the gap in your resume as a “hole.” Think of it as the period spent on “foundation excavation” for a much stronger building. If you try to hide it with weak soil, the whole structure will eventually lean.

Use AI to turn that gap into your unique weapon. “I rested to install a new OS”—that’s a perfectly valid project report.

“The moment you stop lying to the person on the screen (and to yourself), your true professional value begins to rise. A site built on honesty is the one that never collapses.”

Got it done.
